Focus Hong Kong returns to Glasgow Film Theatre in December for an amazing programme of new releases and classics

Focus Hong Kong returns to Glasgow Film Theatre for a December 2025 programme packed with new and classic films. The specially-curated selection gives audiences the chance to catch the very best of Hong Kong cinema on the big screen, from new releases through to restored classics and wild cult favourites.

Opening the season is For Alice, a beautifully-shot noir tribute to the Hong Kong thrillers of the 80s and 90s, followed by the stunning new 4K restoration of Tsui Hark’s beloved all-star 1984 classic Shanghai Blues. Rounding things up is a very special screening of Mighty Peking Man, the Shaw Brothers’ 1977 take on King Kong and one of the maddest monster movies ever made.
