Chinese New Year 2026

Focus Hong Kong returns to The Garden Cinema in February 2026 with a very special Chinese New Year programme

Focus Hong Kong returns to the Garden Cinema with a Chinese New Year 2026 programme to celebrate the Year of the Horse. The specially-curated selection gives audiences the chance to catch the very best of Hong Kong cinema on the big screen, from UK premieres and new releases to beloved classics.

Opening the season on Friday 6 February is the UK Premiere of LUZ, the latest work from award-winning director Flora Lau, a transcendental and immersive journey exploring our relationship with technology. This is followed on Saturday 7 February by a very rare screening of the Director’s Cut of Stephen Chow’s wild kung fu football comedy Shaolin Soccer, and Montages of a Modern Motherhood, one of the most acclaimed Hong Kong films of recent years and a grounded and at times harrowing look at the experiences of women following childbirth.

See the season on The Garden Cinema’s website.

Supported by The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London.
